Professor Amy Huey-Ling SHEE is a socio-legal scholar of family and human right laws. She obtained her LLM at LSE (London) and PhD at Warwick University (UK). Her first book “Legal Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation in Taiwan: Socio-legal Perspective” was published by Dartmouth (UK & USA) in 1999. She conducts interdisciplinary research and teaching on law and society, sustainable development and global studies. After earning her full professorship in 2001 at the National Chung Cheng University, Prof. Shee was appointed as the Dean of International Office (2009-2017), the Director of Centre for Human Research Ethics (2017-2021), the Director of the Taiwan Legal Information Institute (2009 onwards).

Prof. Shee is devoted to research, teaching and social campaigns towards grass-root realisation of human dignity and rights. She is active in the legal education reform in Taiwan which enables her to organise interdisciplinary legal clinic teams for community services. She has been an advisor to human right committees of governmental and non-governmental organizations. Prof. Shee is devoted to global teaching and has organised global leadership programmes with INGOs based in Geneva. She also took the initiatives to make collaborations with international institutions to manage research and teaching projects as well as workshops and conferences.

In 2010, Prof. Shee received the “National Award on Child Protection Angel” from the Taiwan President Ma Ying-Jeou. During 2015-2018, she was one of the leading scholars to draft the Initial Report of Taiwan Child Right under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Right. In 2020 her legal clinic team won the 3rd prize of Hsin-Yi National NPO Social Service Campaign. Prof. Shee has been a member of ALSA since its foundation, and she joined the Board of Trustees of ALSA in 2019. In the big family of Law and Society, she has been serving in several committees and working groups, most recently as the Chair of the 2020 ALSA Distinguished Book Award Committee. In 2021, Prof. Shee’s was honoured to become one of the two final candidates of the ALSA presidency.
